Dermal Fillers Q & A

What are injectables?

Unlike Botox injections which relax the muscle under a wrinkle, injectable wrinkle fillers fill the line, crease, or area with one of several different substances. As a result, trouble spots nearly disappear.

Understanding what is happening to your face and why you may need dermal fillers?

As we age, the “descent” of tissue or skin that makes us look tired and more mature. Folds and lines are usually the symptoms that manifest. Facial tissues thin out, lines become etched around the nose and mouth while cheeks look a little hollow. Dermal fillers can replace lost volume to help smooth wrinkles, plump the lips, and restore a more youthful appearance.

What areas can I treat?

Injectable filler treatments deliver smoother skin and more proportionate facial features, as well as alleviate deep wrinkles, folds, and tired under eyes.

Wrinkle fillers can be used as "volumizers," plumping and lifting sagging skin including:

  • Those who have fine lines to severe wrinkles around the eyes, mouth, and on the forehead
  • Moderately sagging jowls, turned down mouth
  • Thin lips
  • Scars and pock marks
  • Volume loss in the temples, cheek, and mid face
  • Chin
  • Mid face
  • Non-surgical nose correction
  • Eye brows – to lift and add youthful volume
  • Moderate nasolabial folds
  • Ear Lobes

What should I expect?

Although widely used, injectable volume restoration treatments require both a skillful eye for detail and an expert hand. If done improperly, the treated area may look artificially swollen or exaggerated.

During the session, our experts will inject a small amount of filler with a needle. Because no incisions are made, no downtime is required. After treatment, some patients experience mild redness, swelling and tenderness around the treated area. However, the irritation will go away within a day or two.
