Toenail Fungus Removal Rochester MI - Laser Treatment Detroit - Rochester Laser Center - pinpointe_footlaser
Unsightly nail fungus can be embarrassing and uncomfortable. Worse yet, it is a chronic condition that could lead to serious health problems, especially for patients with diabetes or immune disorders.
Effective treatment of nail infections is challenging because the fungi live in the layer of dead skin where the nail is embedded, underneath the actual nail and inside of the nail itself.
Now you can stop suffering the pain and embarrassment of unsightly nail fungus. The Rochester Laser Center offers the first FDA cleared laser for the temporary increase of clear nail in patients with Onychomycosis. The PinPointe™ FootLaser is the easy and convenient procedure that helps turn your discolored and disfigured nails into clearer, healthier looking nails.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What are the causes of nail fungus, or onychomycosis?

What are the causes of nail fungus, or onychomycosis?

There are many causes of nail infection including poor health, nail trauma, increasing nail age, warm or humid climates and even tight shoes. People with a family history are more susceptible than those without. Another cause could be from exposure to infected nails in any community bathing center such as a fitness gym.

What are the signs of nail fungus?

The toenail may become deformed which can impede your ability to wear certain shoes, exercise, walk and participate in other activities you enjoy. It’s common to see one or more the following signs:
  • Yellow streaks in the skin under the nail or white spots/streaks on the nail surface
  • Nail fragments and pieces of skin that have built up underneath the nail.
  • A nail that may appear discolored and is separate from the skin under the nail.
  • Cracked, brittle, and or thickened nails
  • Soft and powdery nail surface, which indicates the infection has worsened
  • Brown or gray nail surface that appears flaky, with no separation of the nail from the skin underneath

How does the procedure work?

The PinPointe FootLaser targets the fungus that lives within and underneath the toenail. The laser light passes through the nail without damaging the nail or the surrounding skin. The toenail will not become instantly clear immediately after the procedure because it takes time to grow out.

What can I expect in the doctor’s office?

Your doctor will give you a brief consultation before performing the procedure. He or she will also discuss if any follow-up appointments are necessary.

How many treatments are required for it work?

One treatment typically kills the fungus. Your doctor will ascertain if you need any follow-up visits or care.

How painful is the procedure?

The process is completely painless for most people, however some have reported feeling a warm sensation and even fewer have said it felt like a pinprick.

How long does it take to recover?

No recovery period is necessary. In fact, the patient can easily walk out as soon as the procedure ends.

How long is the procedure?

The procedure typically takes only about 30-minutes to complete.

Will the fungus return?

One treatment is all it takes to kill the fungus, however we usually recommend care techniques to minimize recurrence of infection. The fungus exists in the environment, so there is a slight chance of re-infection.

How soon can I paint my nails or get a professional pedicure?

You may apply polish as soon as the treatment is complete. Before the treatment, however, it is important to remove all nail polish and decorations.
